This One Is Mine

"This One Is Mine" the mixed media tribute art to my husband, veterans, and soldiers is finally finished(well, almost, I still have to add resin). This took 4+ months to complete, probably 50+ @firearmsnews magazines, latex paint, and lots of glue. The background is a blown up view of #Marines #desertcamo from a tiny patch just a couple square inches. The body is several types of guns. I tried to stick with rifles exploding out of the ground to represent how Marines got the nickname #DevilDogs . R.LeeErmey was used for the eyes as he was one of the most well-known Marines in contemporary times. The arms & hands are made, well, from arms & hands. I was happy to have stumbled onto arms with the "we the people" and "don't tread on me" tattoos. The rifle is made entirely from rifle bullets and casings. Lastly, a group of Marines are over the heart as the bond they all share

Someone's Ex (Obsolete Series)

image162

That's Mark Zuckerberg's profile pic in the very center of the 'face'. He's kind of in the center of the black hole that is Facebook. The energy vacuum. Even he is someone's ex right? This piece was created from photo printed 1"x1" squares of 1200 different Facebook profile images(but actually more like 1400+ printed squares as I made doubles of several). I'm not at all sure who most of these people are but did include friends that are near and dear to my heart. I tried to only include profile pictures with just the one person in the picture. So if you don't find yourself in this art piece it may be because your profile picture at the time had more than just you in it. I didn't include my husband in this because he'll never be my ex. But I did include friends and myself because, let's face, it we're all someone's ex. Only obsolete for that one person but still a possibility for the rest of the world.

Just To See Him Die

This painting happened during the Music Muse stage.  I met a family member of a band mate of Johnny Cash.  Then start on this Folsom Prison Blues inspired piece. Johnny's holding a gun for the line "I shot a man just to watch him die."
